This is not my story but many of whom I know personally.. It's emotional since I felt so while I writing it..thus taken help from AI to make it easily understandable.... You can just read the questions if you want to avoid the full ...stuff.. I’m posting this with heavy heart. This is not some big news, just real situation from our villages in Terai. Many families like my acquaintance came from hills during haiza time. Their grandfather cleared jungle, made house and started farming. That’s how these villages were born. Now government is doing big encroachment drive and people are scared. Their land is Ailani. They have some old measurement papers but no lalpurja for full land. They have lalpurja only for 2-3 katta even if they farm 10-12 katta. When registration time came, they applied for all but only part got approved. Now notices are coming. People are worried as farming is their only income. Main questions they are asking: * How much time is left before they take the land? * Should we do paddy farming this year or not? Investing money in seeds, ploughing everything and then losing land as that fear is killing them. They are not even thinking of fighting or protest. They say: “No, we won’t fight. If government takes it, we will go for daily labour or send sons to India. We have grains for 10-12 months but we need money for kids school, clothes and all. We don’t have anyone to support us. Better to keep working than sit and cry like fake landless people.” Is this drive really serious? How much time do they actually have? Anyone from Kailali, Kanchanpur, Banke, Parsa side what is happening there? Any official notice deadline? Please give real information. People are confused whether to plant paddy or not this monsoon. Sorry if the post is emotional, but this is the ground reality. TL;DR: Old Terai settlers with Ailani land scared of encroachment drive. They just want to know do we farm this year or not?
