Democracy is frustrating, and honestly, that’s normal. It’s slow, messy, and full of disagreements because real democracy means people can question leaders, protest decisions, criticize policies, and hold those in power accountable. Dictatorship is easier. One person makes decisions and things may seem faster on the surface. Projects get pushed through quickly, criticism gets shut down, and it can look like progress. But history has shown again and again that when too much power is concentrated in one person, accountability disappears. Nepal fought too hard to move away from monarchy and authoritarian rule just to normalize leaders acting like they’re above criticism. Supporting a leader should never mean giving up your right to question them. I’d rather have slower development through debate, institutions, and public participation than fast development through fear and unchecked power. Democracy is difficult. That difficulty is not a flaw, it’s the price of freedom. An
